1. What is the Power Cop?
   The Power Cop is a locking, programmable external timer that allows you to control the amount of time that an electronic device can be used.
   
   Features Include:
   - Automatic or manual operation. The power cop can be programmed to allow for set intervals of usage. The unit can also be set to "unrestricted" to enable usage at any time, or "off" to totally disable usage of an electronic device.
   
   - Program a different usage time for each day of the week.
   
   - Minimum schedule interval of 15 minutes.
   
   - Internal battery supply saves the timer schedule, so power outages will not disrupt the programming.
   
    
2. Any Hints That I can Use to Get My Kid Onboard With Power Cop?
   We did some informal study groups with real families, kids alone, parents alone and the like.
   
   The consensus was to sit down with you kid and negotiate what is fair. We think and this is why we preprogrammed the Power Cop Unit from the factory at 1 hour of usage for each day during the weekdays (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday) and 2 hours a day of usage for each day on the weekend (Saturday & Sunday); that this default time schedule is a very fair and very good starting point.

   OK – not trying to be funny here but we have found that Kids will find something else to do if the Video Game, TV, Stereo and P/C do not work! They will also after a day or so with the Power Cop figure how to self manage their time – 15 or so minutes in the morning, 15 or so minutes when they get in from school, 15 or so minutes in the evening, etc and heaven forbid somewhere in between they play, exercise, read, study, do their homework, cores, and spend some time with Mom and Dad.

5. What is the Difference Between Manual and Automatic Operation?
   Manual operation involves manually setting the product mode of the device to unrestricted (lightning bolt icon) or restricted (non lightning bolt icon).
   
   Setting the Power Cop device to unrestricted (lightning bolt icon) means that there is a free-flow of power supplied to the electronic device that is plugged into the Power Cop.
   
   Setting the Power Cop device to restricted (non lightning bolt icon) means that no power will be supplied to the electronic device that is plugged into the Power Cop.
   
   Automatic operation of the Power Cop device involves setting a personal timer schedule or allowing the device to operate on the default timer schedule.
   
   To automatically operate the Power Cop you must set the product mode of the device to the program mode (timer clock icon). The default timer schedule is set to allow for 1 hour of usage for each day during the week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday) and 2 hours of usage for each day on the weekend (Saturday & Sunday).
   
    
6. What is the Default (Factory Preset) Timer Schedule?
   The default timer schedule is set to allow for 1 hour of usage for each day during the week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday) and two hours of usage for each day on the weekend (Saturday & Sunday). This timer schedule will be active if the product mode is set to the program mode (timer clock icon) and if you have not set a personal timer schedule.
   
   If you have set a personal timer schedule and you wish to return to the default timer schedule, carefully use a long, narrow item, such as a pen or an unfolded paper clip, to press the "Reset" button and hold it down for a period of at least ten seconds.
   
    
7. How Do I Set My Own Personal (Custom) Timer Schedule?
   A personal timer schedule can only be set while the device is in the "program" mode (timer clock icon). First make sure that the device is set to the "program" mode (timer clock icon).
   
   The timer schedule is preset to 1 hour per day during the week and 2 hours per day on the weekend. This product allows you to set a different timer schedule for each day.
   
   Push and hold the "Set Timer" button until the day of the week on the LCD screen begins to flash. Use the up and down arrows to set the day of the week that you wish to schedule. Press the "Set Timer" button again. The hour increment on the screen will flash. Use the up and down arrows to set the hour amount for that specific day. Press the "Set Timer" button again. The minute increment will flash on the screen. Use the up and down arrows to set the minute amount for that specific day. The minute increment is designed to be modified in 15 minute increments. Press the "Set Timer" button again to complete the timer schedule for that specific day. Repeat the process to set the remaining days.
   
    
8. How Do I Set the System Clock?
   The time and day of the week can only be set while the device is in the "program" mode. First make sure that the device is set to the "program" mode.
   
   Push and hold the "Set Clock" button until the hour increment on the LCD screen begins to flash. Use the up and down arrows to set the hour amount. Press the "Set Clock" button again. The minute increment on the screen will flash. Use the up and down arrows to set the minute amount. Press the "Set Clock" button again. The day of the week will flash on the screen. Use the up and down arrows to set the day of the week. Press the "Set Clock" button again to complete the clock setting operation.
   
    
9. Why is the Blue and Red Lights Illuminating on my Power Cop?
   The blue light will be illuminated on the Power Cop as long as there is time remaining for use when the product is in the program mode. As soon as the time allotted on the timer schedule has expired, the blue light will turn off and be replaced with a red light, letting you know that there is no longer any time left on that day's timer schedule. When the Power Cop device is in the restricted mode, the red light will constantly be illuminated indicating that there is no electricity being supplied to the product plugged into the Power Cop.
   
    
10. Why is my Power Cop Beeping?
    Your Power Cop device has been programmed to provide audible and visual alarms as a programmed time schedule is nearing its end. The Power Cop will beep when there is 10, 5, and 1 minute left on the timer schedule. It will also beep rapidly as the last ten seconds count off the timer schedule.
    
    10 Minutes
    The Power Cop unit will beep once. A red light will begin to flash on the unit, indicating that the timer schedule is nearing its end.
    
    5 Minutes
    The Power Cop unit will beep four times. The red timer light will continue to flash.
    
    1 Minute
    The Power Cop unit will beep eight times. The red timer light will continue to flash.
    
    5 Seconds
    The Power Cop unit will beep ten times. The red timer light will continue to flash.
    
    No Time Remaining
    When the timer schedule has ended the red timer light will stop flashing and become fully illuminated. This fully illuminated light indicates that there is no more time left on that day's schedule.
    
    NOTE: Whenever there is time remaining on that day's timer schedule, a blue light will be illuminated on the Power Cop unit.
    
     
11. Why do my Power Cop Display Not Light Up or Work?
    Is the back-up battery fully charged? Try waiting for the product to charge for at least 12 hours before first use.
    
    Make sure that the Power Cop is connected to a working non-switched electrical outlet.
    
    Disconnect the Power Cop unit from the non-switched electrical outlet and plug it in again.
    
    The Power Cop product is designed to accept all North American standard 110 volt sized electrical outlets.
    
     
12. My Power Cop Will Not Lock, Unlock?
    It is possible that the lock is being turned for the first time. This may result in a firm locking motion. It may require additional force to turn the lock. It may be helpful to use some slight downward force on the lock as you are turning it. We designed the Power Cop to have a very firm lock, as we know how kids can be and wanted it to be a tight and firm fit.
    
     
13. Why Do I Need to Set the Current Time and Current Day?
    Regardless if you use the Power Cop preprogrammed factory setting (1 hour a day for each of Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday and 2 hours a day for each Saturday and Sunday) or if you custom program the Power Cop unit to the times you desire for each day of the week YOU WILL NEED TO SET THE CURRENT TIME OF DAY AND THE CURRENT DAY OF THE WEEK so that the Power Cop knows which starting date and time it is. This is not to say that the Power Cop will not work if you do not set the current date and time of day, it will work but it will not know if today is Sunday or if its another day or if its 2 am or 2 pm.
    
    The current time and day of the week can only be set while Power Cop is set in the "program" mode. First make sure that the Power Cop is set to the "program" mode.
    
    Push and hold the "Set Clock" button until the hour increment on the LCD screen begins to flash. Use the up and down arrows to set the hour amount. Press the "Set Clock" button again. The minute increment on the screen will flash. Use the up and down arrows to set the minute amount. Press the "Set Clock" button again. The day of the week will flash on the screen. Use the up and down arrows to set the day of the week. Press the "Set Clock" button again to complete the clock setting.
    
     
14. How do I Use the Preprogrammed Factory Default Time Schedule?
    First set the Current Date and Time as Follows:
    
    The current time and day of the week can only be set while Power Cop is set in the "program" mode. First make sure that the Power Cop is set to the "program" mode.
    
    Push and hold the "Set Clock" button until the hour increment on the LCD screen begins to flash. Use the up and down arrows to set the hour amount. Press the "Set Clock" button again. The minute increment on the screen will flash. Use the up and down arrows to set the minute amount. Press the "Set Clock" button again. The day of the week will flash on the screen. Use the up and down arrows to set the day of the week. Press the "Set Clock" button again to complete the clock setting.
    
    Second make sure the Power Cop's three position switch is in the "Program" Mode position. Make sure the device (Video Game, TV, Stereo, P/C) power cord is plugged into the power outlet inside the Power Cop secure area. Close and Lock the Lid. Place the Key in a safe place and the Power Cop its Set and Ready to use in the Default (pre set factory) mode.
    
     
15. How Do I Custom Program My Power Cop Unit?
    The timer schedule can only be set while the device is in the "program" mode. First make sure that the device is set to the "program" mode.
    The timer schedule is preset to 1 hour per day for each day of the week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday) and 2 hours per day on the weekend (Saturday & Sunday). This product allows you to set a different timer schedule for each day.
    
    Push and hold the "Set Timer" button until the day of the week on the LCD screen begins to flash. Use the up and down arrows to set the day of the week that you wish to schedule. Press the "Set Timer" button again. The hour increment on the screen will flash. Use the up and down arrows to set the hour amount for that specific day. Press the "Set Timer" button again. The minute increment will flash on the screen. Use the up and down arrows to set the minute amount for that specific day. The minute increment is designed to be modified in 15 minute increments. Press the "Set Timer" button again to complete the timer schedule for that specific day. Repeat the process to set the remaining days
    
     
16. What does the Back Up Battery Do?
    The timer schedule is preset/default to 1 hour per day for each day of the week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday) and 2 hours per day on the weekend (Saturday & Sunday). Use the product's user's guide to help you to set you own custom timer schedule. If the product is unplugged, the back-up battery source will save this custom timer schedule for a period of 24 hours (the product must be plugged in for a period of at least 12 hours to fully charge the back-up battery). If the product is unplugged for a period longer than 24 hours, you will risk losing your custom timer schedule and will need to reset it. The Factory preset/default time schedule will always work as it is programmed into the unit and will not be lost in the event of a power outage that lasts longer than 24 hours. This mean that even if you Kid tries to trick the Power Cop the most he will get is an hour a day during week days and 2 hours a day during weekends.
    
    Please note: The Power Cop is pretty smart, if you have set the three position switch from the "program mode" to the "unrestricted" position "lightning Bolt" Icon or the "OFF" position the unit if unplugged, allowed to run down the rechargeable battery then re-plugged in will work according to the three position switch position.
    
    The worst case is that your child will only get 1 hour per day for each day of the week days (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday) and 2 hours per day on the weekend days (Saturday & Sunday) if the Custom Programming is lost do to a power outages greater than 24 hours.
    
     
17. How Do I Restore the Default Timer Schedule?
    If you have created a custom timer schedule and would like to restore your Power Cop product to the original default timer schedule, carefully use a long narrow item (Like a pen or Paper Clip unfolded) to press the "Reset" button and hold it down for a period of at least ten seconds. This will restore your Power Cop product back to original default timer schedule. 1 hour per day for each day of the week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday) and 2 hours per day on the weekend (Saturday & Sunday).
    
     
18. How Do I Override the Power Cop Program Mode?
    POWER OFF - The Key Holder is able to shut off the Power Cop by moving the three position switch from the "Program" Mode position to the "Off" mode Position. This will not allow any electricity to flow to the device that is plugged into the secure area of the Power Cop.
    
    POWER ON - The Key Holder is able to turn on the Power Cop by moving the three position switch from the "Program" Mode position to the "Unrestricted" mode Position. This will allow unrestricted electricity to flow to the device that is plugged into the secure area of the Power Cop.
    
     
19. Hey My Kid is grounded; HOW DO I TURN THIS THING OFF?
    POWER OFF - The Key Holder is able to shut off the Power Cop by moving the three position switch from the "Program" Mode position to the "Off" mode Position. This will not allow any electricity to flow to the device that is plugged into the secure area of the Power Cop.
